I haven't posted a blog in almost two weeks, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy! Much of my time has been spent in the studio and I have rediscovered my love of PRINTMAKING!!

When I graduated college, I purchased a Conrad Monotype Printing Press as a graduation present to myself. I thought I would make custom cards, invitations, band posters, etc, but that plan never came to fruition. The press was hardly used and unfortunately it became a dust and junk collector.
Now that I'm in my new house and have a nice studio space, I finally have room to use it comfortably. My motivation and creativity have been renewed and I'm diving in with vigor!! Those same dreams of custom prints are flooding back and I am anxious to get started everyday!
As soon as I got my press and everything set up I started playing with monotype prints. These two are from my first run - Titled Amateur and Primary. I created several prints that day, but I wanted to share these two because they have been accepted into a community art exhibit at our local museum! The exhibit, Artists for Community, is a fundraiser for One Place of the Shoals - a nonprofit crises care center.

So, even though I missed a couple of "blog post" days, I'm not going to beat myself up over it. :) I feel good about what I've been accomplishing. My plans are evolving as I figure out what direction I want to go with my art and I know that I won't just wake up tomorrow and be exactly where I want to be in my career as an artist. But I'll be one step closer.
